the secret of the object

"Bride de Gala" is one of the representative pieces called Grand Classic among Hermès boyfriends from "Ex Libris". The designer, Hugo Glicker, has designed many of today's Grand Classic Carrés. Ex Libris is one of them and was designed in 1946. Ex Libris is a collection stamp that aficionados put on their books to distinguish them from other books. In 1923, Emile-Maurice Hermès, the grandson of founder Thierry Hermès, selected a painting of a chariot called Duc and a servant by Alfred de Drew (1810–1860), which is still preserved in the collection. I put it over my initials, EMH. On either side is the Ceryceion, the staff carried by the Greek god Hermes, symbolizing peace and commerce. The Ex Libris that was born in this way has since become the symbol of Hermès. Ex Libris is placed in the central circle of the carré, surrounded by four elegant carriages inspired by carriage paintings from the Emile Hermès collection.
